My New Poetry Book

Posted on October 24, 2012 at 2:15 PM Comments comments (0)

I am currently working on my new poetry book. This will be my seventh book to-date. I came up with the concept for this book when I was working on my first poetry book Pieces of Me. Finally, I can bring this concept and book to life. I have enough material for this book but I may write some more poetry for it, especially for some sections that don't have enough poetry in them.

The concept for the book is similar to my first poetry book Pieces of Me in that the book will be split up into sections. Each section will have poetry on a similar topic.

I can't wait to share this book with the world. The working title is My Every Color, but that may change. Still, it will be based on the concept that I came up with years ago.

Title and cover change for my novel...

Posted on December 27, 2010 at 12:40 AM Comments comments (1)

Originally when I was writing my novel the title I had come up with was The Secret Life of Ashley Miles. Now that the novel is complete (not counting the editing to be done) I've decided that the novel needs a new title and the title that I have chosen is Awakening. Of course the title change meant a cover change for my book and I have created a new cover. I think it's really beautiful and I love it very much. I can't wait to finally show it to the world along with my novel.

Novel progress...

Posted on November 12, 2010 at 2:05 PM Comments comments (0)

I am making great progress with my novel. I am for the most part done writing it. Now comes the task of editing the whole thing, which will involve adding bits and pieces to what I've already written.

The book summary that will go on the back cover of my book and in the book description on online retail sites (like amazon and such) is done. I guess it takes finishing writing the novel before the book description is exactly as it should be. Glad that is over with.

The book cover is done as well. But as I've gone through a number of covers for my book it might end up changing in the end. Who knows. Nothing is set in stone, but at least I have something to work with.

I have really enjoyed this new experience of writing a novel and bringing it to life. It was so much fun (frustrations aside) and it's still fun putting the finishing touches on it. I can't wait until I am done so I can finally share it with the world in a hardbound book.

I've never imagined that one little idea I had in my head, as I was walking home from the store, would lead to a full length novel. But it did and I am thrilled and excited that it happened.

I really hope that this isn't my only novel and that I will get to write more of them in the future. Stay tuned...

Writing a book description/summary for a novel is no easy task...

Posted on September 27, 2010 at 6:20 PM Comments comments (0)

It is much easier to write a book description for a book that is simply a collection of prose, or poetry, etc. Writing a book description for a novel is no easy task. You don't want to give away the whole story but you have to give a bit of the plot in the description and do it in such a way that it is interesting to the reader. You want the reader drawn in.

I've been trying to write a book description for my first novel. I've been rewriting it over and over yet it still feels unfinished to me. I feel that more editing needs to be done. Maybe the reason it is not coming together as I'd like is because the novel is still a work-in-progress. Maybe it's best to wait until it is complete before attempting to work on the description again. But if ideas come then there is no choice but to give it another shot because it just might bring the book description the needed improvement.

A Novel in the Works

Posted on March 31, 2010 at 4:25 PM Comments comments (2)

I have released a poetry book, 2 lyric books, a book of mixed writing (poetry, lyrics, prose), and a book that is a poetic tale. Now my next project is to write my first novel. I am very excited about this. I have not written a novel before and can't wait to see how it all comes together. I have already started writing it and am loving it so far. It will be quite an adventure and it will stem from personal experience, from things I have gone through / am going through.

Changes to my 5th Book Treasure

Posted on February 23, 2010 at 3:00 PM Comments comments (0)

When I started writing my fifth book Treasure (a rhymed poetic tale) I wanted it to span pages and pages. I kept on writing it and then I realized that the last few pages I had written created an ending to the story. Trying to continue on writing about the two characters, after the ending, would not work of course and trying to insert something into the middle of the story would not work either. But I didn't want this story to end. I wanted to keep on writing it, so what I decided to do then was make what I had written Part I and then start Part II, where two new characters would be introduced. I started writing Part II where I briefly summarized Part I and spoke of the two main characters and then introduced two new characters. I liked what I had written so far and where it was going, but I felt that it would be best to just leave Part I on its own. So in the end, my book will just have the story without the second part. Perhaps sometime in the future I will continue on with Part II and that would make a separate book but for now Part II sits idle.

Having said that, Treasure is finished. All that is left to do is look over the hard copy of the book to make sure there are no errors and that no last minute changes need to be made. Once all that is taken care of I will post a link to my book so you can take a look at it and perhaps purchase a copy.

Pondering Ideas, Spinning Tales, Putting Writing Aside

Posted on February 17, 2010 at 1:05 PM Comments comments (0)

As a writer I love bringing stories to life and seeing just where they take me. Sometimes I may write something and find that I cannot proceed further, so what I do is put that piece of writing aside and come back to it later. And coming back to it later does help as new ideas start to come to my head and things come together. It is ok to let a piece of writing sit for a while, unless there is a deadline by which the writing must be done. Then of course there is no choice but to force the writing. But forcing the writing is never a great thing. Besides the fact that it won't be enjoyed, it will probobably not turn out as great as it can be, as great as I want it to be.

Writing itself is a very creative and adventurous journey. I never know just where my mind and my words will take me, and how far the story will go. When I started writing my poetic tale Treasure, I never thought that it would be as long as it would be and that I would have enough pages to be able to publish it as a book. Part I of the story is done (turned out wonderfully I might add) and I am now working on Part II. To write a story in poetic form that spans pages and pages and also follows a specific rhyme scheme is of course a big project and a challenging one. And it is definitely working. This is my first long poetic tale and I am very proud of it and happy that I embarked on this journey to bring it to life. I can't wait to see just where Part II will take me and how it will unfold.

My book cover for this book is already done and it is very beautiful. So there is one less thing to worry about. And I like how the interior of the book looks as well, though maybe that might change a little.

I cannot say when I will be finished with the story in its entirety so I can finally publish it, but I will not rush it. Better to take my time if it means the story will be better.

I have shared what I have written so far with a few people and they have given my story positive feedback and praise. That is great news and definitely encourages me to keep on writing and bringing new ideas to life.

New Years Resolution

Posted on January 21, 2010 at 7:50 PM Comments comments (0)

My New Years Resolution this year is not a typical one. My goal is to write at least one poem a day so that by the end of the year I will have a total of 365 poems. I don't necessarily need to write one a day but if I don't write a poem a day than I will need plenty of catching up to do. It may not be easy to accomplish this goal but I hope I can actually reach it by year's end.

Diary of a Crush

I am currently working on a new book of verse Diary of a Crush. It will contain poetry, songs, and fantasies (written in prose form) about crushes, love, relationships, heartbreak, and anything else related to guys. Not all pieces will necessarily be of a completely personal nature but there will still be bits of me experiences in each one. You will surely relate to the content in the book. As this is a work-in-progress, the release date for this book is yet to be determined.

My Poetic Tale

I am now working on another book called Treasure, a tale written in rhymed that is full of love, adventure, and many surprises.  I am very excited about it and can't wait for the finished product so I can share it with the world in print.
